GOLF FOR A CURE!
Alexander R. Rich, Jr.
Multiple Myeloma Charity
Golf Outing & Comedy Show
The 9th Annual
Alexander R. Rich Charity Golf Outing will be held on Thursday, August 9th
at the Lebanon Country Club. The event
will officially kick off at 7 pm on Wednesday, August 8th with a
Comedy Show at the Lebanon Country Club.
Ayala Comedy Presents Kyle Grooms, who has appeared on national
television programs like Last Comic Standing, Chappelle’s Show and more. Tickets for the Comedy Show are available at
www.comedymmrf.eventbrite.com. Proceeds from the Comedy
Show and Golf Outing benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
Last year, we raised $32,500,
bringing our 8-year contribution to over $165,000. Thanks to the support of local businesses and
generous donors, the $32,500 donated made last year’s event our most successful
to date. This year, we have increased
our fundraising goal to $35,000. We
still have many sponsorship opportunities available, as well as a need for
donations of gift cards, merchandise or services to utilize for our raffle,
which last year raised nearly $10,000!
The August 8th and
9th event, co-hosted by GAR Advertising, TekSolv, and DRT/K&R
Transportation, was created to honor Alexander R. Rich Jr., who struggles with
the daily complications of living with Multiple Myeloma. In 1992, at the age of
50, Rich flew to Naples, Florida to kick off a lifestyle change at the Florida
Golf School. With the first swing of his club, he felt excruciating pain; he
had broken a rib simply by swinging a golf club. Soon after, he was diagnosed
with multiple myeloma and given a bleak diagnosis – 3 to 6 months to live.
However, due to five courses of chemotherapy, two stem cell transplants, and
recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma, Mr. Rich
remains in remission today. He is the Father of Geoffrey Rich, President of locally
based GAR Advertising.
“The Alexander R. Rich, Jr.
Multiple Myeloma Charity Golf Tournament goes beyond thanking those who have
helped me keep my father alive, and in my children’s lives. It’s about the
thousands worldwide who are diagnosed and living with this complicated form of
cancer,” says Geoffrey Rich.
This is a very well attended event, and we receive multiple compliments on how well it is run, and how much funding we generate with this small, grass roots event. Please consider joining us this year for either the Comedy Show or sponsoshop of the golf outing, including the donation of merchandise / goods / gifts to utilize for our raffle sales.
