Dear Friend and Local Business Owner,
I am writing to you to tell you about a foundation that is near and dear to my heart – the MMRF (Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation).
My wife, Carmeline Lisanti Del Vecchio, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in November, 2006. On September 11, 2011, almost 5 years to the month, the love of my life lost her battle to this dreadful disease. Carmeline was my childhood sweetheart. We were together for 47 years and married for 42 of these years. I am committed to keeping Carmeline’s memory alive by raising money for the MMRF and providing an educational scholarship in her name to a student from Long Branch High School who aspires to a career in some aspect of the medical profession. Long Branch High School is where Carmeline and I graduated from in 1965.
Multiple Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. The five-year relative survival rate for Multiple Myeloma is approximately 38 percent, one of the lowest of all cancers.
The mission of MMRF is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation Multiple Myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure.
Without the MMRF Carmeline would not have survived the 5 years. When she was first diagnosed we were told not to expect more than 2 years. Through the efforts of the MMRF and new drugs made available, Carmeline was given hope and remained positive about her prognosis until her passing. I am convinced the MMRF provided Carmeline and I an additional 3 years together to spend with our wonderful family, friends and loved ones.
The Vineyard Golf Course at Renault Winery Resort and Golf will be hosting the Carmeline Del Vecchio Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament on October 12, 2012. Proceeds from this tournament will be divided between the MMRF and the scholarship fund. The Carmeline Del Vecchio Memorial Foundation, Inc. is a tax exempt organization. For tax deduction purposes the organization’s Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) is 80-0824300.
As a business in the local community or through your association with Carmeline or members of our family, we are offering you the opportunity for business recognition by becoming a major sponsor, a hole sponsor, and/or donating a raffle door prize. Our sponsors will be highlighted on a hole at the golf course as well as acknowledgement at the dinner to be held following the golf tournament.
o Hole-in-One Sponsorship ($750) includes signage at 2 holes on the course, signage at the putting green and foursome of golfers for the event with dinner for those four golfers.
o Birdie Sponsorship ($150) includes signage at 2 holes on the course.
o Hole Sponsorship ($100) includes signage at one hole.
We would like your commitment by September 14, 2012 to give us time to print signs for the course. The deadline for golf registration is October 3, 2012. 100% of your contribution to the Carmeline Del Vecchio Memorial Foundation will go in part to the MMRF and part to the Carmeline Del Vecchio Memorial Foundation Scholarship Fund. Hopefully, you will contribute to this noteworthy foundation. It is also an excellent opportunity to obtain some low-cost advertising and show your support for a worthwhile cause.
