Join Me! The MMRF is curing cancer NOW. But we need your help.

Many of you know that I restarted chemotherapy treatment for my multiple myeloma this fall after having been treatment-free for two years. So far, so good, though it has added some complexities and has made for a tricky Minnesota winter (but aren’t they all?!?). That said, I am just so incredibly appreciative that I even have these drugs available. The big idea this year is that three new drugs have been FDA approved. In the world of cancer drugs, that is record-breaking success!! It means that if my current treatment plan does not work for me this time, I have options! Most importantly, it allows me to approach this new phase of treatment with significantly more hope and confidence than fear - which of course is the biggest idea of all!

I do one fundraiser every year to raise both awareness and funding for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), which is the award-winning organization that plays a pivotal role in much of the myeloma research and FDA drug approvals, bringing treatments to trial 60% faster than the industry average. Through its record-breaking work with myeloma, the MMRF has now become a leader in changing the way many organizations and institutions are approaching ALL cancer research, and it is setting new protocols within the entire cancer community for how to get cancer drugs to market faster. This affects all of us.

For the past two years my college roommates and I have participated in a fundraising race in Chicago. On April 2nd we are taking our momentum to San Francisco and setting our fundraising goal even higher. We will also be accepting an award there from the MMRF for our team’s commitment to the organization.

I am generally a very uncomfortable fundraiser, but I approach you now because the MMRF is that good and it is that important in breaking barriers in cancer research and finding cures. I am wholly dependent on the work that the MMRF is doing and the drugs that it has fast-tracked through the system. It is not an overstatement to say that the MMRF is the reason I can be hopeful when thinking about what next year might look like.

I hope you will help us support the groundbreaking work that the MMRF is doing for me and all cancer patients.

Know that every single dollar helps move the needle!!

Thank You!
