Team Multiple Miracles

This year, I will be participating in the MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Run: Boston at Carson Beach on April 26, 2014. This is my third year participating!  Last year, I was the Spirit of Hope Honoree and Team Multiple Miracles raised the most funds (over $23,000) to support the good work of the MMRF. We had a great team!

This year, our work and fundraising continues.  Can we raised another $23,000?  I believe we need to.  There are 24 new treatments being studied and 48 clinical trials have been launched - all thanks to the funds we raise and the MMRF. That is pretty amazing!  I know those studies are going to provide me with a longer, healthier life.  I thank you in advance for your generosity and support.  And remember - every donation, no matter how large or small contributes to ending multiple myeloma.

A little background for those of you new to Team Multiple Miracles: I was diagnosed with MM in March 2011, just 3 years ago.  Chemotherapy was the first line of combat against the disease, followed by a stem cell transplant in August 2011. Thanks to the great care I receive in Boston at Dana-Farber and in NH, I am in remission.  I am on a maintainance therapy which has some side effects, but I wouldn't think to complain about them because I AM IN REMISSION!!  :-)  And should I slip out of remission, I would have new therapies (funded through the MMRF research) to support me - and let me tell you, those therapies have remarkable effectiveness!

About the MMRF: the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) was established in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by twin sisters Karen Andrews and Kathy Giusti, soon after Kathy's diagnosis with multiple myeloma. The mission of the MMRF is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. As exceptional stewards of its donors' investments, the MMRF consistently surpasses its peers in fiscal responsibility and an outstanding 90% of total budget go directly towards research and related  programming.

I believe that miracles happen, but sometimes they need a little help. Team Multiple Miracles is here to help and will work hard to put an end to this disease.  It is our mission, so Multiple Myeloma, watch out!  We're funding research and WE WANT A CURE!!!

Thanks for your support!
