My name is Elizabeth Sedway, I am a wife, mother and warrior in the fight against cancer. Our family of four has been fighting my cancer, together, since December of 2009. Currently, I take weekly chemo treatments, with the intent of reclaiming the remission I enjoyed, for 3+ years, after my June 2010 bone marrow stem cell transplant. As of February 24th, I am 12 tiny test points away from another remission. I am in this fortunate position, because of the great work of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF).
Because of the work of the MMRF, I have numerous chemo drugs available to wage my battle against this incurable blood cancer. Imagine though, if the money we contribute together leads to a cure. That will be an invaluable contribution to countless lives, thanks to YOU.
This year, we will be participating in the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) Race for Research 5K Walk/Run. We have committed to raising awareness and funds to accelerate finding a cure for multiple myeloma, which is the second most common blood cancer and is incurable. Your generosity truly makes a difference, as funds raised at this event have helped to (No donation is too small. We will be infinitely grateful for anything):
- Double patient survival
- Deliver six new treatments in less than a decade
- Bring 24 new treatments into clinical trials
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) was established in 1998 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by twin sisters Karen Andrews and Kathy Giusti, soon after Kathy's diagnosis with multiple myeloma. The mission of the MMRF is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure.
As the world's number-one private funder of multiple myeloma research, the MMRF has raised over $240 million since its inception and directs 90% of total budget to research and related programming. As a result, the MMRF has been awarded Charity Navigator’s coveted four-star rating for eleven consecutive years, the highest designation for outstanding fiscal responsibility and exceptional efficiency.
All donations are tax deductible. Donors to our team will receive a thank you letter, and a tax receipt automatically via email if the contribution is made online. Donors who make a check donation will receive a letter in the mail shortly after the MMRF receives the contribution. Please note that Registration fees are NOT tax-deductible as mandated by the Internal Revenue Code, as participants are receiving a good/service in exchange (a race registration and participant T-shirt).
Please support our participation in the MMRF Race for Research 5K Walk/Run. Your donation will have a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of patients and their families!
