I first learned of Multiple Myeloma in the spring of 2011 when I met Dan, a friend of mine who is battling this illness. Dan told me about myeloma, the symptoms and how a cure was yet to be found. I have never met a person with such challenge before them with such a positive attitude and demeanor. Dan's strength and courage is a true inspiration. After some research I realized not many people were informed or even aware of multiple myeloma. Then I found the M.M.R.F. and discovered there was something I could do to help, not just my friend but everyone plagued by myeloma. That summer a local bar let me have a grass roots benefit where we raised five hundred dollars for the M.M.R.F., very shortly after that I was deployed to Afghanistan for a year. I'm back now and Dan has had to undergo more treatment and is fighting strong. The Gray Ghosts MC, a brotherhood in which I am a member of and our local West Monroe Motocross Track are working together in volunteering to help out in the fight against multiple myeloma by organizing a one night event in the celebration of Myeloma Beatdown, where all proceeds are donated to the M.M.R.F. in honor of our friend Dan.
